Inspiration and Experimentation

Laura’s inspiration comes from the awkward, raw and unabashed styles of naive art, medieval art, folk art, outsider art and from observations of life and nature. Her work is made by hand and only given a finish on the computer. Laura aims to work as sustainably as possible, learn and continue old crafts and to embrace slowness and raw expression in her work. Laura’s drawings are dynamic and filled with life, movement, character and humour. They capture life with all its fire and energy.

Laura experiments with collage and printmaking trying to push the boundaries of form and style. She uses print making as a medium of spontaneity and as a form of painting whilst still respecting it as a traditional craft. Stone lithography and screen printing are first choice for her work as it allows for her bold colours and textures to be fully expressed.
